So... remember when I was talking about screw holes? I think the problem is that the screws I was using were not, in fact, M2 screws. They were M2.5.
And I'm pretty sure about that because I tried to fit them into the M2 screw holes in clock radio board, which have been precisely drilled to 2.2mm. And they don't fit. But they fit in the M2.5 holes.
The Hardware Maintenance Manual for the Lenovo G50-45 laptop I pulled these from lists all screws as M2s. So that's wrong. There are clearly two different screw sizes I have here.
